Electrician insurance in Florida
Flannable is launching in Florida first. Licensed construction trades run through the DBPR, and the insurance minimums are set statewide by board rule — what changes county to county is who issues your licence and how.
What Florida actually requires
Rules current as of August 2026 — always confirm with your county licensing board.
Florida questions
Does Florida require general liability for trade businesses?
Only for licensed trades, and the minimums come from board rule 61G4-15.003 — $300,000/$50,000 for general and building contractors, $100,000/$25,000 for specialty trades like plumbing and HVAC. If your trade isn't licensed at all (handyman, pressure washing, window cleaning) there is no legal minimum. Either way commercial clients almost always require $1M per occurrence, which is the number that actually decides whether you get the job.
Who enforces licensing in Florida?
The DBPR statewide through the Construction Industry Licensing Board, plus county boards that issue local Certificates of Competency for specialty trades.
Is insurance required to get an electrical license?
In most states, yes — proof of general liability (often $300K–$1M) is part of contractor licensing, and Florida county licenses commonly require it.
Why is electrician insurance pricier than handyman insurance?
Risk class. A bad outlet can burn a building down years after the invoice was paid. Completed-operations exposure is priced in.
